Nutritional therapy at The Putney Clinic of Physical Therapy

NUTRITIONAL THERAPY

At The Putney Clinic of Physical Therapy we offer nutritional therapy services with Kate Delmar-Morgan. Kate is highly qualified, very experienced and has a friendly, calm and practical approach.

ABOUT NUTRITIONAL THERAPY

Nutritional Therapy and Sports Nutrition uses the application of nutrition science in the promotion of health, peak performance, individual care and the prevention of disease. Nutrients, from food, are vital to health because they are the driving force behind every process in the body. However, your need for nutrients is highly individual, since factors such as your age, gender, inherited strengths and weakness, state of health, medial history, lifestyle, environment and dietary patterns all influence your requirements. Nutritional Therapy takes into account these and other factors, which may be contributing to your performance, imbalances and health concerns. Long term nutrient deficiencies or imbalances can lead to more serious symptoms and complication. For this reason, good nutrition is far reaching and may benefit people of all ages.

NUTRITIONAL THERAPY AND THE KEY SYSTEMS OF THE BODY

Kate will work with you to help address any imbalances and help support the body towards restoring and maintaining health. Please be aware that Nutritional Therapy is not an ‘overnight fix’ for health problems. Indeed, it can take time for your body return to a more balanced state. Kate does not use a ‘one size fits all’ approach. The advice is personalised and she works with you collaboratively and provides practical recommendations to help you change old habits, restore your body’s natural healing potential, empower you to take control of your health and achieve your goals. Above all, her first priority is to inspire people to make more healthy food choices and to take interest in food and the part it plays in health. It is about developing your understanding of the relationship between food and nutrients and your health and performance.

The key systems where these imbalances are likely to occur are:

  5. Environmental inputs: nutrition, microbes, exercise, sleep, trauma, pollutants.
  6. Gut function: digestion, absorption, gut environment/ microbiome, elimination.
  7. Immune system: inflammatory processes, infection.
  8. Mind: mental, emotional, stress, resilience, relationships, support.

NUTRITIONAL THERAPY CONSULTATIONS

The initial consultation will be up to 90 minutes during which Kate will take a detailed history, explain potential imbalances and give you some recommendations to get started with. A follow-up consultation (up to 45 minutes) will be scheduled for 2 to 4 weeks from your initial consultation to review your progress and discuss further recommendations. Follow-up consultations are then arranged monthly as required. How frequently you need to return will vary according to your individual circumstances and the nature of your health goals.

Alongside dietary recommendations, Kate may also recommend supplements and/or investigative testing to understand more in terms of your nutritional status and functional capacity. The types of tests may include nutrient profiles, metabolic and biochemical profiles, DNA testing, food/environmental allergy, hormone profiles, or stool testing. If you currently have a medical condition and are already working with health professionals, Kate is a fully integrated health practitioner who will work collaboratively with your GP and existing healthcare team as required.

FINDING THE RIGHT TREATMENT FOR YOU

We recommend that you complete our free health assessment form and a member of the team will contact you to book an initial consultation with our nutritional therapist. On booking an appointment you will be sent a questionnaire and a 3-day food diary to complete and bring along to your first consultation. Client confidentiality is strictly maintained.

NUTRITIONAL THERAPY FEES

You can consult our nutritional therapy treatment fees here. Please note: Built into her charges is Kate’s time working on your case outside of the consultation (including researching your case, collaborating with your health team, designing supplement programmes, arranging tests for you and analysing the results). The actual supplements and cost of the tests are additional to the consultation charges.
