BIOMECHANICS AND PODIATRY
In association with Active Life Podiatry, we offer a full range of biomechanics, podiatry and chiropody services. These treatments are difficult to price without speaking to the client first to understand your specific requirements.
What are Biomechanics and Podiatry
Biomechanical analysis
Biomechanics is the science concerned with the internal and external forces acting on the human body and the effects produced by these forces. Biomechanical analysis a scientific study of the mechanics of your body, in particular the forces exerted by muscles and gravity on your skeletal structure.
Using a series of tests, we assess your technique and posture during rest and movement to build a profile of muscular tightness and weakness in your body. This allows us to develop a treatment and training regime completely tailored to your needs.
Podiatry and Chiropody
Podiatry is a branch of medicine devoted to the study, diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the foot, ankle and lower leg. Chiropody is very similar to podiatry and in many instances in the UK is considered to be the traditional name for all the same services offered by a qualified Podiatrist.
Conditions treated with Biomechanical Analysis and Podiatry
Using gait analysis and lower limb biomechanical evaluations we can diagnose and treat many musculoskeletal problems of the lower limb; injuries such as calf strain, Achilles tendinitis and shin splints and plantar fasciitis are some of the many conditions we can manage.
We are also fully equipped to offer routine care of skin and toe nail conditions including nail cutting, and removal of thick skin under the feet and around the heel and minor surgery treatments for in-growing and infected toe nails, nail thickening, corns and verrucas.
The methods of treatment we use are varied but can include a combination of insoles and orthoses, dry needling, foot/ankle mobilisations, injection therapy and re-evaluation of gait or running style.
