MSK DIAGNOSTIC ULTRASOUND
We offer MSK Diagnostic Ultrasound at our clinic in Putney with Chartered Physiotherapist and Sonographer Barry Walsh.
What is MSK Diagnostic Ultrasound?
Diagnostic Ultrasound imaging involves using sound waves to produce pictures of muscles, tendons, ligaments, bones, nerves and joints throughout the body. An ultrasound machine is used by a specially trained physiotherapist during clinical assessment. The purpose of this is to aid in the diagnosis of musculoskeletal conditions involving these structures. It is safe, non-invasive and is not painful. It does not use any radiation and is very cost effective in comparison to MRI scanning.
Conditions
MSK Diagnostic Ultrasound can be used on most parts of the body, except the spine. Among the conditions that is commonly used on include:
- Tendinopathy
- Bursitis
- Muscle tears
- Ligament sprains
- Joint swelling
- Nerve compression
- Stress fractures
- Tendon ruptures
What does a diagnostic ultrasound session entail?
The cost of the consultation includes a full clinical examination and ultrasound scan. After consultation, a rehabilitation programme will be formulated to help restore your health. If further referral to a specialist is advised, this can be discussed with you at the time.
