Cherie Lathey is the co-director of The Putney Clinic of Physical Therapy. She has accumulated more than 30 years working in the health and fitness industry. Cherie is a Senior Yoga Teacher and specialises in Ashtanga, Yin and Pregnancy Yoga. She is the director of Yoga Mama, offering Yoga and Pilates classes and workshops, as well as yoga teacher training courses.
Having practised Ashtanga Yoga since 1994, Cherie subsequently trained to become a yoga teacher. In 2007, she gained her Pregnancy Yoga teaching qualification through the Life Centre in London. After this, she went on to become the creator of the first Pregnancy Yoga app for the iPhone and iPad.
Cherie has travelled many times to Mysore in India to study and practise at the Ashtanga Yoga Institute in Mysore with the Jois family. She has hosted and assisted her own Ashtanga yoga teacher Nancy Gilgoff here in Putney. During one of her visits to India, Cherie suffered a back fracture, which led her to undertaking further training in Yin yoga with Norman Blair. She now combines both Ashtanga and Yin yoga in her own life, and maintains a daily practice. She has a practical East-meets-West approach to yoga and a lighthearted view on life.
In March 2023, Cherie also completed training in Hypnobirthing and Birth Preparation Yoga with KGH Hypnobirthing.
Cherie is a regular contributor to OM Yoga and Lifestyle Magazine and the Elephant Journal. She also runs her own blog site, Yoga Mama London, in which she shares her own thoughts about yoga.
