John Durkin is a musculoskeletal podiatric specialist, biomechanical analyst and chiropodist at The Putney Clinic of Physical Therapy and Active Life Podiatry. He qualified as a podiatrist in 1988 and founded his first practice in 1991. Since then, he has become a specialist in biomechanics. In 2010, he undertook a Masters Degree and, for his dissertation, compared foot pressures between runners with different foot strikes. This has enabled him to become confident and successful in treating injuries of the lower limb associated with running sports. He regularly treats sports professionals and elite athletes, including Olympic runners.
John has a keen interest in paediatric biomechanics. With 4 children of his own, he can assess children and advise on potential foot and postural conditions and improve their running technique and balance. With his gentle, warm natured character, he is both trusted and liked by the young people he treats.
John can draw upon a variety of advanced podiatric treatments including dry needling, injection therapy and the provision of custom foot orthoses.
