Intermittent fasting is trending! It’s touted to help with weight loss, help manage diseases like diseases and be the anti-aging solution! The big question is: “Does intermittent fasting affect men and women the same way”. This online talk aims to dive in to the science on intermittent fasting and gender. In detail, Linia will explore the current evidence base to understand: what works, for who, why, in what context and when.
To set the scene, the talk will begin by giving an overview of what intermittent fasting is and what happens to your body on a cellular and biological level when you fast. The focus of the talk will be exploring the science on the effects of fasting on a Men versus women level. The latest science relating to the impact on weight, health, hormones, and performance for each gender will be discussed extensively. Shortcomings and limitations of the current body of research will also be highlighted. Finally, using a multidirectional and holistic approach we will discuss the practical applications of fasting for both women and men.

Meet Linia Patel
Linia Patel is an award winning Dietitian. At The Putney Clinic she offers online nutrition services. She is a highly passionate and motivated Dietitian with extensive experience within a variety of nutrition and health settings. Linia graduated from the University of Cape Town in 2003 with a Bsc in Biochemistry. In 2005, she obtained an MSc in Nutrition and Dietetics (also from the University of Cape Town). After moving to London, she received an MSc in Human Nutrition from King's College London, in which she focused on Sports Nutrition. More recently, in September 2020, she obtained a PHD in Public Health from the University of Milan. Read more
